Deputies submit bill on 10 mln rbl deposit insurance payment

MOSCOW, Jul 18 (PRIME) -- Deputies have submitted to the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, a bill seeking to raise insurance compensation on deposits to 10 million rubles in a number of cases, according to an electronic database of the chamber seen by PRIME on Thursday.

Under the current legislation, depositors may receive up to 1.4 million rubles in compensation in case of a bank license recall.

“At the same time, balances in sizes far exceeding the established maximum amount of insurance compensation are formed for a certain time on individual accounts in some cases (for example, inheritance, sale of various real estate, receiving grants in the form of subsidies),” an explanatory note says to the bill said.

“Taking into account the social significance of such events, taking into account international practice, the bill proposes to provide for the possibility of receiving payments on such deposits in an increased amount (by analogy with escrow accounts, the maximum amount of payments will not exceed 10 million rubles).”

(62.9451 rubles – U.S. $1)
